Shima Fukubayashi, Owner

Shima spent her childhood between the US and Japan, and with an extensive career in the financial industry, she brings a unique blend of skills to her clients.

Shima moved to Tokyo, Japan, thirty years ago when beginning studies at Keio University. After graduating with a BA in Economics, she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign graduate program (Gies College of Business). She joined Accenture (ex-Andersen Consulting) as a financial business process consultant after receiving her MBA. Before setting up Oak Creek Associates in 2016, she worked for securities companies and investment banks for 15 years, including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup Securities, BNP Paribas, and UBS, as an Equities Sales Trader, Institutional Sales, and Private Banker. She also has experience in the early stages of startups, such as real estate funds and fintech, in a supporting role.

Shima majored in international economics as an undergrad, with her thesis on carbon taxes and their economic impacts, and she pursued her interest in environmental economics. She has recently ventured into corporate ESG as a senior ESG advisor for an international real estate investment fund. She faces fast-changing ESG disclosure regulations in Europe and challenging data valuation systems but finds joy in forming ESG strategies to deliver sound solutions for reducing fund-level carbon footprints. She completed the Climate Risk and ESG for Corporate Governance and Decision-making Executive Program at Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, in 2024.

Shima is a native of both English and Japanese. She is a certified Japanese Sake Taster, Kikisake-shi(*), and enjoys baking. She has been an avid skier since she was ten and still loves to go on trips during the winter to seek fresh powder snow. Her favorite mountains are Niseko and Rusutsu in Hokkaido, Japan, and Whistler/Blackcomb and Cypress in Vancouver, Canada.

米国と日本で育ち、金融業界での勤務経験を生かして、お客様にご満足いただける翻訳・通訳サービスをご提供することに日々努めております。

慶應義塾大学経済学部を卒業後、米国イリノイ大学アーバナ・シャンペイン校にてMBAを取得いたしました。その後、金融セクター・ビジネスコンサルタントとして現アクセンチュアでの勤務を経て、外資系証券会社各社（ゴールドマン・サックス証券、日興シティグループ証券、BNPパリバ証券、UBS証券／銀行）にて約15年間金融市場に携わってまいりました。日本株式セールストレーダー・機関投資家株式セールス、そしてプライベート・バンカーとして、国内外の機関投資家・法人・個人のお客様の投資運用をサポートし、不動産ファンドやフィンテック企業の立ち上げ初期のメンバーを含め、多様な役職にて幅広い実務経験を積んでまいりました。

慶應大学在学中は国際経済学を専攻し、炭素税とその経済インパクトについて研究を行いました。近年の金融・投資業界におけるESG への関心の高まりを受け、弊社の代表を務めるかたわら、国際不動産投資ファンドの日本事業ESGシニアアドバイザーを兼務しております。ESGの”E”に主眼をおき、欧州における変化の目まぐるしい環境規制・評価制度に関する調査や、世界の温暖化ガス排出量の30％以上を占める不動産セクターからの二酸化炭素排出量削減のために、ハード・ソフトの両面で有効となる施策・方針の策定および実行に携わっております。実務の傍ら、2024年にカナダ・ブリティッシュコロンビア大学Peter A. Allard School of Lawにおいてエグゼクティブ・プログラム”Climate Risk and ESG for Corporate Governance and Decision-making”を履修し、終了証を取得しました。

英語および日本語ネイティブ。プライベートでは、日本酒唎酒師(*)として日本文化の継承を心がけています。幼少から始めたスキーは現在も続けており、冬場は新雪を求めてニセコ（北海道）、ルスツ（北海道）、ウィスラー（バンクーバー）やサイプレス（バンクーバー）などへ脚を運んでいます。
